چکیده

The decomposition of the organometallic ruthenium precursor [Ru(COD)(COT)] (COD: 1,5-cyclooctadiene; COT: 1,3,5cyclooctatriene) in mild conditions (20 C, 3 bar H2) in n-pentane leads, in the presence of octylsilane (H3 SiC8H17) to the formation of stable Ru nanoparticles with narrow size distribution. The solids obtained after washing and drying were fully characterized by elemental analysis, TEM with EDX, infra red measurements as well as solid state C CP-MAS NMR investigations. The influence of the initial octylsilane/Ru(COD)(COT) ratio ranging from 0.2 to 2.0 was studied. It was observed that the size of the nanoparticles decreases with the initial Si/Ru ratio. The thermal stability of these nanoparticles (Si/Ru = 1) was also studied and as expected the size of the particles drastically increases after treatment under H2 at 500 C, while surprisingly under neutral atmosphere, there is only a slight increase.

Ru nanoparticles stabilized by organosilanes: Influence of the initial Si/Ru ratio

Surface Organo-Metallic Chemistry on Metals (SOMC/M) [1] provides access to a new type of materials. The strategy is to create catalytically active sites which are homogeneously dispersed and uniform in their structure by grafting organometallic precursors on well defined metallic surfaces. For example, tetrabutyltin reacts with the surface of metallic particles supported on silica leading to f...

Platinium-Ruthenium electrocatalyst as sensor electrode for methanol oxidation

Hybrid nanocomposites of binary Pt-Ru/Polyaniline were prepared by oxidative polymerization of aniline andformation Pt and Ru nanoparticles. The polymerization of aniline was carried out in the presence of Potassiumhexa cyano Platinate (IV) and Ruthenium (III) nitrosyl nitrate as oxidizing agents. During the reaction anilinemonomers undergo oxidation and form polyaniline (PANi) whereas the redu...

Synthesis and Characterization of Ru/Al2O3 Nanocatalyst for Ammonia Synthesis

Ru/Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by conventional incipient wetness impregnation as well as colloid deposition of RuCl3 precursor via in situ reduction with ethylene glycol (polyol) method on alumina support. The samples were characterized by TEM, XRD and TPR techniques. The catalytic performance tests were carried out in a fixed-bed micro-reactor under diffe...

Aqueous-Phase Hydrogenolysis of Glycerol over Re Promoted Ru Catalysts Encapuslated in Porous Silica Nanoparticles

Activity improvement of Ru-based catalysts is needed for efficient production of valuable chemicals from glycerol hydrogenolysis. In this work, a series of Re promoted Ru catalysts encapuslated in porous silica nanoparticles (denoted as Re-Ru@SiO₂) were prepared by coating silica onto the surface of chemically reduced Ru-polyvinylpyrrolidone colloids, and were used to catalyze the conversion of...

Preparation and performance analysis of γ-Al2O3 supported Cu-Ru bimetallic catalysts for the selective Wet Air Oxidation of Aqueous Ammonia to Nitrogen.

Series of Copper Ruthenium (Cu-Ru) bimetallic catalysts supported on γ-Al2O3 with different metal loading are prepared and investigated for catalytic wet air oxidation of ammonia to nitrogen. The ammonia decomposition activity was studied at three different temperatures i.e. 150oC, 200oC, and 230 oC and it is found that catalytic activity increases with the increase in temperature along with th...
